who you callin a bitch?

i'm writing this essay on black hip hop (like, not eminem, ha) and basically arguing that it's failing at the moment at staying true to its political roots. queen latifah is such a prime example. i wasn't even aware of the drivel that she was releasing lately until right now. oh GOD! it's awful. she used to write such empowering, important music and rap just swallowed her up. well, society swallowed rap up and it forced all the hip hoppers/rappers to submit and conform.
